A String Orchestra Program for Young Musicians and their Family Members in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina Area
For nearly five decades PYFO has created a welcoming space for young musicians to play in an orchestra together. PYFO now offers collaborative programming for students and their adult family members who play string instruments. Under the guidance of the non-profit, Music for Children, Inc., PYFO members receive professional instruction providing a supportive environment for string players to progress musically through teamwork and exposure to a challenging repertoire.
Students and Families Together
PYFO is open to youth string players. Adult family members are welcome — even your Grandpa can play!
Joyful Ensemble Learning
We offer a structured and welcoming rehearsal environment. Combining professional coaching for violins, violas, cellos and basses with full ensemble rehearsal, students grow musically and have time to get to know each other — yes there are snacks!
Performance Opportunities
PYFO orchestras will perform two formal concerts each year. In addition, members will have the chance to participate in pop-up concerts — like the Carrboro Farmer’s Market — giving back to our community through sharing our music.
